OUR STORY

IT STARTED WITH A QUESTION:

HOW DO WE CARRY ON THE TRADITION?

This was the guiding question for owners and operators, Chef Isaiah & Chris Sonjeow. Growing up in the restaurant industry, the brothers learned early that an amazing dining experience hinges on four key elements: tried and true recipes, a relaxing atmosphere, thoughtful cocktails, and memorable hospitality.

Chef Sonjeow's passion for food is a legacy from his father, Yongyuth, who was born in a quaint town in Phichit Province—midway between Bangkok and Chiang Mai.

Seeking to test his strong work ethic and entrepreneurial spirit, he left his hometown aiming to achieve the American dream.

Nestled in Macomb, Michigan, Khom Fai has dedicated the last 13 years to mastering the art of traditional Thai dishes.

Boasting an award-winning menu filled with fresh ingredients and seasoned with a dash of good ol’ Southern hospitality (a nod to our mother's roots in the hills of Virginia), Khom Fai has become both a local favorite and an award-winning establishment.

We are honored to continue our family’s legacy and invite you to enjoy the experience of this tradition.

The man on the left is smiling and dressed in a black chef's jacket, while the man on the right has a serious expression and is wearing a light-colored collared shirt. They are positioned in front of a brick wall, and there is a window with sunlight coming through in the background. The magazines display various covers of "Hour Detroit" highlighting the publication's content.
