A family-built Thai dining experience rooted in tradition, hospitality, and the heart of Macomb.

It started with a question: How do we carry on the tradition?

For owners Chef Isaiah & Chris Sonjeow, the answer was never a slogan. Raised shoulder-to-shoulder in restaurants, they learned that tradition shows up in the details: the steadiness of the recipes, the ease in the room, the thought in a drink, and the warmth when you walk through the door.

Carrying it forward meant building Khom Fai the same way their family always has: with intention, night after night.

Isaiah leads the kitchen with the same quiet conviction our father brought from Thailand: respect the craft, honor the guest, and never let the fire go out.

Family legacy

From Phichit to the table.

Our father Yongyuth was born in Phichit Province, between Bangkok and Chiang Mai. He left home with grit and an open heart, chasing the American dream the only way he knew how: through work.

At Khom Fai, that thread still runs through everything we do: Thai family recipes, real hospitality, and a quiet nod to our mother's Southern roots in the Virginia hills. Tradition on the plate; care in the room.
